TDR in Washington
Washington State has a diverse array of TDR programs at the county and city level, and recently created a regional TDR marketplace. These programs focus on a variety of conservation priorities, including farm land, forests, and open space. The range of programs illustrates the versatility of TDR as a land use planning and conservation tool. From the sizable portions of working forest land protected through King County’s program to the family farms protected in the City of Redmond’s program, TDR is effective in different communities and can be used to achieve a variety of local goals.
